Looking Forward to NACSW’s First Special Issue of Social Work and Christianity This Summer

NACSW is delighted to announce that Lawrence Ressler, Ph.D., ACSW, CSW, who recently accepted the position of Academic Dean at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY, will be the guest editor for NACSW’s first special issue of Social Work and Christianity, due out by the end of this summer. The publication of this special issue will officially launch an increase in the number of issues of SWC from two to three per year for the first time in our journal’s 28-year history.

The focus of this first issue will be on the responses of Christians in social work following major disasters, including lessons and insights gained from working with victims, workers, and faith-based organizations in Oklahoma City, Laos, and most recently, at Ground Zero in New York City.

The decision to expand to a third issue was driven largely by the feedback NACSW received from its membership in last summer’s member survey, which indicated that members count Social Work and Christianity as one of their most valued benefits.

NACSW is current recruiting guess editors on selected themes for special issues in 2003, 2004, and beyond, with a focus on helping SWC focus in more depth on topics of particular interest to Christians in social work.
