Abstract:   Social workers may encounter clients in dire circumstances and run the risk of becoming emotionally overburdened. Students with a sense of calling are particularly vulnerable and may struggle with the idea of self-care given extreme client hardships. Nevertheless, maintaining emotional health and professional clarity involves recognizing the importance of self-care.
