Dr. Chris Buckingham

"Providing Spiritually Sensitive Supervision for Social Workers
   and Other Mental Health Providers"

Abstract: Providing supervision – whether clinical supervision for entry level unlicensed mental health professionals or professional supervision to licensed experienced mental health professionals – is an opportunity to aid in the development of the supervisor’s and the supervisee’s sensitivity toward the client’s spirituality. Spiritually sensitive supervision encompasses a view of self, others, the work, the world, and the transcendent. This workshop will address ethical spiritually sensitive supervision by looking at the spiritual position of the supervisor and supervisee, the content of supervision and the context for supervision.

Dr. Fred DiBlasio

"Decision-based Forgiveness Intervention"

Abstract: Although an ancient and faith-based path to healing in a relationship, social workers seldom have a formal way to think about and use forgiveness as a therapeutic intervention. This session will present an overview of decision-based forgiveness and show how it has been effective in the presenter’s practice for over thirty years.  He will draw from actual case examples and research to show the benefits experienced by clients, and will demonstrate how a forgiveness intervention can lead to much quicker positive results in individual, couple and marital therapy.
