Morning Devotions, Saturday, November 7, 2020 – 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM
“Risking All to Serve” led by Bertha DeJesus and Mike Fleming
Saturday morning’s devotions will focus on the story of Ebedmelech in Jeremiah 38. Ebedmelech risked his life to advocate for the prophet Jeremiah. His act of love broke down barriers of race and position to do the right thing. Ebedmelech had his eyes on the truth that God had revealed through listening to Jeremiah. He was willing to stand alone to speak up for the truth, and because of this, God honored him. Not only was Ebedmelech granted permission to pull Jeremiah out of the cistern to save his life, but his own life was saved in the end. God delivered Ebedmelech from the captivity that was to befall the city, and he was one of the few who were permitted to stay in Jerusalem.
Dr. Bertha Saldana DeJesus, MSW is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania. Mike Fleming, BSW, is the Hanover Center Manager with New Hope Ministries in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.
