Enjoy the inspiring music and performance of Jacobed
Jacobed Melgarejo is an aspiring young woman, called to inspire the youth and young adults of her generation. Born in Chiclayo, Peru, she relocated to California at the age of 5. Coming from a family of missionaries and pastors, along with her affinity to singing and the arts, Jacobed grew up full of hopes and dreams waiting to come into fruition.
Upon turning 17, after a meaningful experience with God, she felt compelled to surrender her heart and life to Jesus, eventually responding to the call of youth ministry. After that encounter, it became clear that what was planted in her heart was given by God for His glory. In the development of an intimate relationship with God, she discovered she had a gift to write songs and kept her birth name as her “stage name” because of its deep, prophetic meaning: “Glory of God”.
Jacobed released her first album: “Breaking the Silence” during her first concert on July 7, 2009, in Lima, Peru (having 8 songs in Spanish and 2 in English). After the concert, she decided to fully pursue music for a season. She witnessed how God’s instilled visions and passion came to life through writing songs and knew it was a developing ministry.
Jacobed obtained a BA in TV & Film from California State University LA in 2008 and is proud to have obtained her master’s degree in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University in 2018. She currently serves at her parent’s church as the main worship leader and a youth leader. Her God-given talents are also shared ministering at events or other churches. Throughout her music journey, Jacobed has opened up for names such as Alvaro Lopez, Nancy Amancio, Juan Carlos Alvarado, and Rojo who are notable Christian artists in the Spanish sphere. Although she is more prevalent at Hispanic events, she is slowly transitioning to appearing within English-speaking communities. She has collaborated and been featured on songs with local Christian artists. In March 2015, Jacobed had the honor of being part of the soundtrack for some of the song for the award-winning independent film: “Tempting Fate”. Jacobed released an English single titled “Back to Basics” on April 11, 2015, and after a recording hiatus, she released another single on March 1, 2021 titled “You’ve been on my mind”. She is currently working as a School Counselor in a Charter School in East LA and also in the process of releasing her long-awaited English album in the Spring of 2021 which will be her second album.
